“This is my sons policy and I had to work with Alpha Emergency Assistance on his behalf as he was very ill in Koh Tao, Thailand.
You will be able to see records but essentially he was put under a huge amount of pressure from Clinic to pay over £1k cash or leave immediately or at best next day. He was very ill with temperature of 101/102 etc. The moment I spoke to Nat, I knew I was in good hands. Brilliant; calm, gave advice, advised process and reached out to your excellent Thai agent. My son said he was SUPERB and as soon as he was involved the clinic immediately changed towards him and his care. They had put huge pressure on him to pay rather than his care being the priority. Massive thank you to Nat and the Thai agent who quickly and professionally resolved this situation for my son. Really excellent. Would definitely now use and recommend Alpha. My 2yr old son became sick on holidays in Dubai and had to be admitted to hospital. After consulting with Alpha Insurance they told me to proceed with the necessary treatment. A UK doctor even phoned us whilst on holidays to make sure my son was fit to fly before we left for home. “Hello, I am contacting you with regard to advice received from a member of your team. I contacted the Emergency Assistance line and spoke to a brilliant lady called Lindsay. My 19 year old son Aidan Loxton, had just gone on his first holiday with friends to Magaluf the day before. I had taken a phone call from his friend who told me my son had been hit and needed to go to hospital with a suspected broken nose.
When I called the Emergency Assistance line at 2 o’clock in the morning and spoke to Lindsay she was extremely helpful and understanding despite the fact that I was rambling and upset. She gave me clear instructions about where my son needed to go and why. She mentioned a scam that was currently happening in Magaluf where people are taken to private clinics or hospitals instead of state ones. My husband was speaking to a woman who had apparently witnessed the incident but she kept asking for my husband’s bank details and wouldn’t allow him to speak with police or nurses there.
We think that our son has actually been the victim of one of these scams but thanks to Lindsay his friends managed to get him to the correct hospital where he was checked over and discharged with nothing serious, thank goodness. I would give the advice and customer service 100% satisfaction, 5/5 without a doubt.
There was nothing I was unclear about after speaking with Lindsay, and I felt much better knowing that she would be speaking directly with my son’s friend to give him the exact same instructions and advice. I have no doubt that without Lindsay’s help my son would probably be in a much worse situation. Thankfully he is fine except for cuts and bruises and a missing tooth! He returns home tomorrow afternoon.
I will be sure to recommend Alpha Travel Insurance to my friends and family and will not hesitate to use Alpha again in the future. Please can you send our gratitude and thanks to Lindsay for assisting us in a very scary and upsetting situation.
